The GamuT S300 dual-mono power amplifier contains four 2,500VA mains transformers for a total of 10,000VA, eight rectifiers, and twenty 22,000uF large RIFA capacitors for a total of 440,000uF. This is split into two independent amplifier sections, one for each channel.
Each channel has a dedicated mains power cord and power switching, providing true dual-mono operation, and twice the power by using two independent normal wall sockets. The GamuT S300 delivers 300W in 8ohms, 600W in 4ohms, and a scarcely believable 1,200W in 2ohm, but only if the mains supply in your home will allow high enough currents. This means not just the breaker switches, but more importantly that the copper wiring in the walls is dimensioned thick enough. The transformers have a combined weight of 60kg (132lbs), and are mounted on a 3mm thick steel plate floating on 8 industrial vibration absorbers to prevent mechanical noise. The chassis and top plate are made of 20mm (Ύ") thick plates of aluminium to keep the weight within reasonable limits. The six round items are custom made locking screws holding the top plate in place. However, an S300 still weighs in at 233kg shipping weight (512lbs).
